For thousands of years, the “Glauca” (Athene noctua, or Little Owl) has been the symbol of wisdom, since, among other things, it is the sacred creature of the Ancient Greek goddess Athena, the goddess of Wisdom (“Sophia” in Greek). Many generations of “glaucae” used to nest at the foot of the Acropolis. The Athenians took this as a sign of Athena’s presence in the temple, and the owls were always welcome there. The owl’s association with Athena is inscribed and depicted in numerous ancient artworks. There are also accounts of the “glauca” being used by Athena as a messenger. The Athenians also believed that even the goddess Athena herself often took the form of the “glauca”, when she appeared to people.

Our names (Athena & Sophia) were the inspiration for our label. The identification of goddess Athena with wisdom (in Greek:Sophia) is represented by the owl. The identification of Athena with Sophia is represented in the good taste, the design and the quality of MOUTAKI garments.

Inception

“What shall we wear this summer?”

This was the question that triggered us to create our own collection of clothes and accessories for our friends and us.

We started out with a small range of mix-and-match clothing. This first range brought on a second one, and finally a complete collection of clothes, jewellery, scarves and handbags.

That’s how the Moutaki sisters created the moutaki company. A company of fashion and girly clothing and accessories, at the same time affordable and timeless.

Energy from classical and modern art, greek radiance, natural raw materials, vibrant polymorphic forms and lines that extend motion, create the ethereal but earthly world of Ioanna. The respect towards man and nature, the instinctive comprehension of traditional ideals and the quest for futuristic harmony, constitute her unique design and expression principles. Having studied fashion design, costume design and stage design, compelled with a vision to change “the image seen, standing still, at a traffic light”, Ioanna Kourbella proposed for the first time in 2003 a subversive fashion concept, an amalgam of simplicity and refuge, thespianism and freedom. The way clothes envelope the unique energy flow of every human body is Ioan- na Kourbela’s main source of inspiration along with the elements in nature, the hec- tic pace of life and cultural diversity of Athens, Greece. Her collections reveal the different aspects of a minimalist aesthetic embracing the simplicity and charm of classical harmony.

The eponymous label Collectiva Noir was launched in 2016 by a strong creative team and from the very first collection the brand suggests staple sub categories in every season. Graphic tees and essentials , knitwear , sporties and a night-outs, Collectiva Noir offeres a new meaning to cool luxury. Each collection is defined by dedication to women of ageless spirit connected to a sophisticated and liberating style of relaxation. With a spanish mom and a greek jewelry designer father,I decided to study Spanish philology! As a hobby I liked to create handmade jewelry for me and my friends! When my father was retired, I decided to undertake his laboratory and do my hobby “my ideal job”! My name is Katerina Chatzipetraki and I create handmade jewelry with metal and enamel, with the brand “Katerina Chatzipetraki”! I am inspired by the colors and the shapes of the Mediterranean and Latin America! Geometric shapes, colorful tiles, ancient masks, spanish patterns mingle and form my jewelry!

maan was founded in 2014 by athens based designer and creative director marilena andreadis, a central st. martin’s graduate with a long and diverse background in fashion, including several collaborations with joseph, caramel baby&child, sophia kokosalaki, freeshop and bsb.

She decides to express her creative point of view by giving birth to her first jewellery piece. Every collection is a personal journey for her, which will travel you to new paths, reflecting her creative world.

Grigoris and Constantinos Samaras were raised in the seaside suburbs of Athens, Greece, with a fondness for the great outdoors, and an unwavering affinity for the beach. In the summer of 2013, with over a decade’s experience working with their family in the textile trade across three continents, they founded Sea You Soon, a premium beach towel brand with a minimal and natural aesthetic, and a true nomadic spirit.
